D-Day landing beaches: recommended itineraries
The D-Day landing beaches are just over an hour from the campsite. We recommend that you book your tickets before you get there, and you can even opt for theExplore Normandy Pass, which will save you money and allow you to visit more sites! To visit the D-Day landing beaches from the campsite, start with the nearest beach: Utah Beach, around 50 km away. It’s the American landing beach furthest west, and therefore the closest to Port-Bail-sur-Mer. Over the course of a full day, you can discover several sites, including Sainte-Mère-Église: an emblematic town with its paratrooper on the church and the Airborne Museum. Then head off to admire La Pointe du Hoc, an impressive cliff face stormed by the American Rangers. Continue on toOmaha Beach, famous for its American cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer. To make the most of your day, we recommend an early start, good walking shoes and a windbreaker: the weather here is changeable!
